Electrified Thermal Solutions was highlighted in a recent CleanTechnica article examining the Department of Energy’s $155 million investment in advanced energy efficiency technologies for industrial decarbonization.
In her piece “US Presidents Come And Go, But Energy Efficiency Is Forever,” journalist Tina Casey spotlighted the commissioning of our Joule Hive™ Thermal Battery at Southwest Research Institute in Texas as a prime example of thermal energy storage’s role in the renewable energy transition.
Casey notes that our thermal battery “is designed to soak up low-cost renewable electricity from the grid and store it at peak temperatures of 1,800°C (3,275°F), then discharge it as a gas capable of running industrial furnaces, boilers, or kilns.” She emphasizes how the technology “unlocks a cost-competitive heating alternative to natural gas and other fossil fuels.”
The article connects our commercial-scale demonstration to the broader DOE initiative targeting energy-intensive industries including chemicals, metals, and food and beverages—the same sectors we’re working to decarbonize.
