SAN ANTONIO, TX – February 26, 2026 – Electrified Thermal Solutions today commissioned its first commercial-ready Joule Hive™ Thermal Battery at Southwest Research Institute, marking a key milestone in the deployment of electrified industrial heat. The full-scale system demonstrates the ability to deliver zero-carbon heat at temperatures up to 1,800C using low-cost, off-peak electricity.
The commissioning event brought together company leadership, partners, and 50+ invited guests. The program included opening remarks from Southwest Research Institute leadership, followed by remarks from CEO and Co-founder Daniel Stack and CTO and Co-founder Joey Kabel, a ribbon cutting, and guided tours of the operational system.
Gina Ortiz Jones, Mayor of the City of San Antonio, attended the event and delivered remarks highlighting the Joule Hive™ commissioning as a proof point for American industrial competitiveness. The Mayor also recognized the role of U.S. Department of Energy funding in advancing the project and noted plans to highlight the installation during an upcoming delegation trip to Washington, DC.
Company leadership also recognized support from the U.S. Department of Energy, including ARPA-E, in advancing the project.
This installation demonstrates that high-temperature industrial processes can be electrified cheaper than natural gas, removing a primary barrier to adoption for manufacturers.
